Then came June

For the most part things had been running pretty smoothly up until the end of May and beginning of June.  There was the occasional sleepless night here and there before.  A trip to Wal-mart from 2-4 am because the babies were colicky and I didn't want to keep our tenants up.  But for the most part the babies slept and ate and I was easily taking care of 3 kids, getting most of the house work done and even cooking a few meals.  Then the babies started to be awake more during the day.  They got heavier and harder to carry up the stairs to get outside.  Kylie got more monsterish.  The house was a disaster.  No meals were being made and life was hard.  I was tired and grumpy and needed to get back to sleeping 10-12 hours a night.  Well, that obviously didn't happen so life stayed hard for a while...  but we were surviving!  We stayed busy in the evenings playing on 4 different softball teams between the 2 of us, some tournment teams on Saturdays and flag football for me.

One day while I was driving the girls over to Seven Peaks, Kylie was eating some trail mix in her carseat when she said "Ow!  My nose!"  When I asked her what was wrong she propmptly told me that she put something up her nose...  Lovely!  When we got to the waterslide park I took a look at the damage and sure enough, there was something stuck up there.  I tried to squish it out, had her blow her nose really hard but nothing worked.  I hoped that after playing in the water for a while and getting water her up her nose it would just come right out.  No such luck!  So after a couple of hours I called the pediatrician and they told me to bring her right in.

On the way to the Dr.

She had to lay up on the table (which definitely is not her favorite) so the Dr. could take a look at what was going on.  Once he got a good look he called in a nurse so she could help me pin her down so he could pull it out.  We told her to lay really still and she did.  Haha!  We didn't even need to hold her.  She just layed there and curiously looked around wondering what was going on.  Luckily it only took a couple of minutes of digging and this is what we found:

Apparently she succussfully stuck an almond in her nose...  I just figured it would have been a peanut, I mean who in their right mind would look at an almond and think I bet this will fit perfectly right in my nose...  The Dr. warned that kids usually get in a habit of sticking things up their nose and that I should keep any small foods/objects away from her unless she's being supervised.  However, she seems to have learned her lesson and we haven't had to make another trip to the Dr. for items stuck in her nose.  *Knock on wood*
